WHAT IS HBOT

The 2019 Nobel Prize in Physical or Medicine revealed that cells are sensitive to the oxygen content of their environment. Under hypoxic conditions, the increase of molecules called hypoxia-inducible factors (HIFs) leads to changes in the expression of more than 300 genes, prompting cells to switch to a metabolic mode completely different from the oxygen-rich state. Long-term hypoxia will lead to accelerated aging of the body and an increased risk of disease.

There are two forms of oxygen: conjugated oxygen and dissolved oxygen.

Bound oxygen: hemoglobin in red blood cells is combined with oxygen, and its carrying capacity can be expressed by blood oxygen saturation, arterial oxygen saturation is 95~98%, venous blood is 75%

Dissolved oxygen: The amount of oxygen dissolved in the plasma is much smaller than the amount of bound oxygen, and the amount of dissolved oxygen is directly proportional to the pressure. In some areas, the capillaries are narrow, and blood cells cannot pass through, so they have to rely on dissolved oxygen in the plasma.
